The Dream of the Red Mansions (2009) - Nordkorea-Information

A feature film "The Dream of the Red Mansions" (Parts 1 and 2) was produced by the Korean Film Studio.

The studio made a film version of the opera "The Dream of the Red Mansions" successfully re-created by the Phibada Opera Troupe as required by the new century by adapting it from a Chinese famous classic novel this year, the year of "DPRK-China friendship".

The film shows the ruin of an aristocratic family based on a patriarchal tradition, mainly dealing with the tragic love of its leading parts. It makes a truthful artistic depiction of what happened in feudal China which was on the verge of collapse and its inevitable downfall.
