On July 1 KST, KCNA issued a strong criticism of the statement made by South Korean President Park Geun-hye during her visit to China. A spokesman for North Korea’s Peaceful Unification of the Homeland told KCNA that “South Korea is seeking new inter-Korean relations based on North Korea changing its ways. It is not us who must change, but South Korea.” He added, “To seek change in the system of the DPRK is a nonsense pipe-dream. Our patience with Park Geun-hye is running out.”
The DPRK spokesman put emphasis on the principles of the Uriminzokkiri (lit. ‘just between us Koreans’) policy, saying that South Korea must not depend on foreign forces; it must instead seek to find a solution “just between us Koreans”. (New Focus International)
